An essential oil recipe for arthritis in dogs
By Doc Kim on Nov 19, 2009 in Aromatherapy for Dogs, Bone & Joint Health
As a dog who has arthritic changes in my aging bones, I can tell you how much I appreciate my human using a raw meaty bone diet with me, plus a great thing to add is Omega 3s (N-3s – essential fatty acids) and my all time favorite, a weekly Raindrop, WOOF! Plus she uses BLM (capsules) that has glucosamine in it. She incorporates an essential oil blend by Young Living called Panaway that has helichrysum in it into my Raindrop. All of this has helped me with my arthritis so that I can run and play and have fun like any normal, healthy dog. In fact, a few years ago the vet said I’d never run or play again – but she was wrong, WOOF! My human didn’t opt for those NSAIDs (thank God) but instead went the natural route and it has really helped me.
Something to always keep in mind is that each dog is individual and maybe what works for me won’t work for your dog. I’m sharing what my human does for me so that you can get some ideas to help your dog.
I hope you will also consider a natural approach for your dogs in helping with arthritis.
Here is an essential oil recipe that one of the members on the natural dog health care group that human helps moderate, shared to use for arthritis in dogs:
1/2 oz base oil (olive oil, sweet almond, jojoba)
6 drops helichrysum
4 drops peppermint
2 drops ginger
3 drops valerian
You can do a massage on your dog using a little of this blend on the joints as you massage.
