Essential Oils – Only the Best for Your Pet

I LOVE the essential oils by Young Living! Mom uses them to help me for a LOT of things. She makes my ear cleaning solution with Purification in it (see below), my shampoo and coat conditioner is Animal Scents by Young Living, and to chill me out so I don’t get overly upset when my humans are gone Mom uses Peace & Calming (see below) and if I get sore muscles there is a variety of oils she has we can choose from, WOOF! So in our home, these oils are staples! There are a LOT more we see that can be added into an Emergency Kit but this is a grrreat start!

Any pet owner knows that our furry friends are more than just pets. They are truly part of the family.
We’re willing to do anything for them – especially when it comes to health care. But more and more pet owners are becoming dissatisfied with conventional therapies. As a result, there has been a growing interest in alternative treatments. To cater to this clientèle, veterinarians are turning to Young Living.
One such veterinarian is Dr. Mary Hess of Madison, Wisconsin. According to Dr. Hess, “I think more veterinarians are getting into alternative care because clients are demanding it. In order to have a more complete veterinary practice, veterinarians are exploring other avenues to satisfy those people.”
Monica Goldberg and her fourten-year-old yellow lab, Oats, called on Dr. Hess when it was discovered that Oats had five tumors, one of which was cancerous. The tumors were surgically removed and Oats was sent home bandaged at the midriff. Conventional painkillers weren’t providing relief. In fact, Oats was so uncomfortable she couldn’t even lie down to rest. Monica applied a specially formulated oil blend that Dr. Hess provided to help relieve Oats’ discomfort. According to Monica, “In a matter of minutes, I turned away from Oats and when I glanced back she was lying down asleep.”
After surgery, Monica treated Oats’ incisions with essential oils and Animal Scents Ointment(TM), which helped seal in the oil. To her surprise, Oats’ suffering was minimized and her recovery was quick.
According to Dr. Hess, essential oils can be used on animals just as they would on humans. However, she recommends following a veterinarian’s care in diagnosing specific conditions.
Because many veterinarians have yet to incorporate all-natural products into their practice, Dr. Hess willingly consults with other doctors to help them guide clients in the use of essential oils on pets. There are critics who frown upon using essential oils on pets because of their fragile senses. But Dr. Hess stresses that essential oils can be diluted with Young Living’s V-6(TM) Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex until a tolerance is established. She says, “Like humans, you might notice a reaction to the oils, but once your body has been cleansed then your body tolerates them quite well. This is the same for animals.”
That does not mean that there are no potential hazards when using all-natural products. Dr. Hess warns, “Many of the Young Living nutritional products can be used in animals and do have oils that are of value. However, the use of products with xylitol, a sweetener, must be avoided in animals. Unlike humans, in which it is safe, animals have an adverse reaction that includes low blood sugar and liver toxicity. The pet owner must carefully look at the label or call Young Living if there is concern about whether a product includes xylitol.”
Our pets mean everything to us. Why not give them the best?
