Toxic mold is a problem in hundreds of thousands of homes across the country. Unfortunately, most of our choices for treating this mold problem or preventing it are very toxic to living beings exposed to them. Fortunately, there are other options. There is a blend of essential oils called Thieves that contains Clove, Lemon, Eucalyptus, Rosemary and Cinnamon. These oils, in combination, were used by thieves during the era of The Black Plague to protect themselves from getting the dreaded disease when they robbed the bodies of people who had died of the Plague. I have used it for years as disinfectant treatment and prevention for sore throats, etc.

Dr. Edward R. Close, a specialist in toxic mold detection and treatment of homes, has found Thieves to be a very effective way to treat and prevent mold from growing in your homes. He recommends diffusing with a cold air diffuser by running the diffuser for 15 minutes, waiting three hours, and then repeating the process again every three hours throughout the day. This is followed by using the diffuser every other week, 8 hours continuously, as a prevention for mold. He also recommends using the Thieves Household Cleaner full strength on visible mold inside the house and 1:1 dilution outside the house. The beauty of these two products is that they are environmentally safe and free of any chemicals.
