Arrrooo fellow pets and people! Sigh, I had to lay down for this bepaws Mom made me talk about cats, AGAIN, rrrrufff! Well I guess if we can help keep those doggone felines calm, then it’s good. In fact I’d say give them extra so they’ll stay sleeping hehe….uh Mom says I have to apologize, grrrrr. Okay, well just go listen to our friend Leigh Foster share about using YLEO’s Peace & Calming blend with cats, WOOF! Oh and WHY supposedly phenols are bad for cats. This is actually a very good question, and to answer that question, I would like to tell you about what I use on my cats that flip out veterinarians and the non-believers and uneducated consumers call me “crazy”.

You have all been told over and over again (especially those of us in the veterinary profession) that “phenols” are bad for cats. Well, while studying for my exam, I discovered where that statement came from. Veterinarian Technicians as well as Veterinarian Students are taught that the FDA APPROVED DRUGS that contain phenol (the manmade kind) is toxic and deadly to cats. So no one bothered to look twice at the RainDrop Therapy oils from Young Living which contain phenols (natural, God made) because they would be toxic to cats. Well, I am here to tell you that I use all of the Raindrop oils on my cats (diluted of course, due to the heat of these items) and I have had only success. I even show you how I apply the oils to my cats on my video! So I feel that I have pretty well proven that pure unadulterated “hot” oils can be used safely in cats.

Now, we’ve also been told (and this question asked before) about citrus oils being toxic and even deadly to cats. Once again, I use citrus oils on my cats for various reasons and my favorite blend to use is Citrus Fresh. the only oil I will not use on my cats is Grapefruit. The reason is because Grapefruit is such a high metabolism burner that I am afraid that if I use it on a cat that the cat will waist away to nothing! When I tested it, I had some liver enzymes raise a tiny fraction and I walk on the side of extreme caution. But I do want to state that there are veterinarians that use Young Living oils on cats will use Grapefruit oil on them. So that goes to show you how cautious I am.

Now, for your question, the oils tested and products tested on those breeds of animals were done so long ago and refer to products that are not from Young Living oils. The products used were probably tainted with chemicals or distilled wrong to where the phenols in the oils were switched to high and released toxic matter. Chemistry is such a touchy subject as the slightest little thing can change the chemical make up of a product and turn it from safe to deadly.

With Young Living products, we can be rest assured that Gary Young takes extreme caution in growing, harvesting, and distilling the purest product on the market today. I would use Peace and Calming on these dogs. If I see any signs of toxicity, then I would stop using it. That is what I did when I first started using these oils on my cats.
