Shadrach the Neo Mastiff

Arrrooo fellow pets and humans! I’m just not too happy when someone says I can’t have leftovers but I guess I’d better share this bepaws some of you animals make big oinkers of yourselves, WOOF! I NEVER do….uh hehe, Mom says I’d better confess and tell you the truth, sigh. Hi my name is Shadrach and I’m a food beggar. Okay, there I said it. Gosh I always have to tell the truth, rrrruuuff! Anyway, this is a list to help you make sure we pets stay safe and healthy during the holiday season! Hope you’re all having a very thankful day today!!

Below, we’ve put together some helpful tips for a safe and healthy Thanksgiving holiday:
~ Turkey and other holiday food — If you are serving turkey, NEVER give leftovers to your pets, and be especially cautious as cooked bones (and rich holiday foods) can be fatal.

~ Garbage – Make sure garbage and leftovers are safely disposed of right away, as even trained pets may be tempted to counter-surf or raid the garbage or outside trash. Put a heavy item on all outside trash lids so that stray/wild animals cannot get into the trash as well.

~ Treats – Remember to caution others (both kids and adults) not to give your pets anything except their normal treats. Rich foods may cause a painful pancreatitis, and guests may not be aware of dangers that seem obvious to you.

~ Decorations – keep out of reach of playful pets. Ribbons and sparking lights can be harmful or fatal.

~ Chocolate – contains an enzyme that is potentially dangerous to dogs and cats -chocolate can kill them so do not give them chocolate.

If you are having several guests over, put your pets in a separate room with some toys and a soft place to lie. Soft music playing, especially classical, also helps them to relax. Pets that have their own room will feel safer; less stressed and won’t be able to accidentally escape out the front door. Also remember:

Keep current identification on your pet at all times. With holiday parties and guests abounding, your pet may have more opportunities to escape. Buy a new ID tag for your pet here.
Remember how much your pet values time with you. Make time to spend doing things that you both enjoy.

Now you and your pets can relax and enjoy your Thanksgiving!
