Essential Oils Properties for Dogs

Bergamot (Citrus aurantium) furocoumarin free
Smells quite refreshing. Light yet refreshing scent. Can be calming to the nerves, antiseptic. *Bergamot EO is phototoxic, we use FCF Bergamot

Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum)
A great natural spicy source for canine odors.

Cedarwood, Atlas (Cedrus atlantica)
Great for canine skin rashes, freshens coat and skin, deodorizes and is good as an insect repellent.

Chamomile, German (Matricaria recutita)
Can be helpful for dogs that have arthritis (through massage), cuts, dermatitis, inflamed skin, insect bites, sores, strains, stress, wounds, pain, sensitive skin.

Chamomile, Roman (Chamaemelum nobilis)
Can be helpful for muscle pain on working dogs, puppy teething pain, great for burns, wounds, inflammation, allergic reactions, dry itchy skin, dermatitis, hypersensitive skin. Great for canine massage!

Cinnamon Leaf (Cinnamomum zeylanicum)
Can be used as an antifungal in dog soaps and shampoos.

Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea)
Can be helpful for dogs that are nervous and stressed (move, car rides, during show, thunder storms, vet visit).

Coriander (Coriandrum sativum)
A great natural reviving source for canine odors.

Cypress
Can be good for wounds.

Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus)
Can be used for canine wounds, inflammations, cuts, muscle aches and may relieve some pain, can repel insects.

Frankincense (Olibanum)
Good for anxious dogs and puppies, may help with minor wounds, sores, bug bites. A rare scent.

Geranium, Rose (Pelargonium roseum)
A great insect repellent which we use on all hikes with our dogs.

Grapefruit, Pink (Citrus paradisi)
Cold Pressed – May help canine coat and skin care, great for smelly oily coats and has a quite happy aroma.

Helichrysum (Helichrysum angustifolium)
Seems to help heal most paw cuts, hot spots, canine dermatitis, irritated dog skin, and minor wounds.

Hyssop (H. officinalis var. decumbens)
No ketones, high in Linalol! Great for dog skin problems. We us it for paw sores and canine hot spots.

Jasmine Absolute (Jasminum officinale)
We use this for the floral and exotic aroma in our products. Can be calming.

Juniper Berry (Juniperus communis)
Seems to work on dogs with oily fur, dandruff and eczema. Light and green scent.

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
May help dogs with skin allergies. We use it for paw cuts, canine dermatitis, insect bites, bruises, itching, teeth cleaning, sores and during hikes to repel some nasty bugs.

Lemon (Citrus lemon) -CO/CP-
Cold Pressed – Seems to be good for some infections, may be antiseptic and smells quite green and fresh.

Litsea (Litsea cubeba)
A wonderful scent that has invigorating effects. Small amounts used can create a very uplifting mood on dogs.

Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha)
We use this on our dogs’ chapped, cracked paws, skin rashes, hot spots, minor wounds, ear and teeth care, fleas and ticks seem to dislike the odor.

Marjoram, Sweet (Origanum Marjorana hortensis)
May help ease your dog’s nerves before car rides, vet trips, during thunder storms etc.

Mandarin, Green (Citrus reticulata)
Seems to help calm our dogs, great for smelly room, doggy beds and coats.

Neroli (Citrus aurantium var. amara)
Seems to help dogs with nervous tendencies. Smells refreshing and great for problem skin.

Niaouli (Melaleuca quinquenervia) chemotype Linalol or Nerolidol)
Gentler than Tea Tree, can be great for minor canine cuts and wounds.

Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans )
A delightful and natural spicy scent for canine coat. May stimulate dogs.

Orange, Sweet (Citrus sinensis)
A delightful source for natural citrus scent! Can be calming and good for canine eczema.

Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin)
We use it on cracked and cut paws, canine dermatitis and eczema, all fur care and as an insect repellent. Also a great coat scent!

Peppermint (Mentha piperita)
May repel insects and fleas, also seems to have a cooling effect on itchy canine skin. Good for bad dog breath as well.

Rosemary
Can be good for healing of wounds and improves dull-looking coat. Generally used for dandruff and seborrhea.

Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia)
Great for canine skin care, bug bites, cuts, wounds and may help fungal infections.

Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) chemotype Linalol or Geraniol
Seems to work on canine eczema, and staph infections.

Petitgrain (Citrus aurantium)
Seems to help dogs with nervous tendencies. Smells great.

Ravensare (Ravensara aromatica)
Eucalyptus like scent, may help skin rashes.

Rose Otto, Turkish-Rosa damascena
Our favorite! Makes dog coat smell great! Seems to help dogs with sensitive skin and coat, may help canine eczema and calming dogs. Great for ear cleaning as well.

Spikenard (Nardostachys jatamansi)
Seems to help dogs with nervous tendencies.

Valerian Root (Valeriana wallachi)
Seems to help dogs with nervous tendencies.

Vetiver (Vetivera zizanoides) – Haiti
Seems to help dogs with nervous tendencies. Earthy green scent.

Vanilla CO2 (Vanilla planifolia)
A delightful source for natural scent! Our Vanilla is true Vanilla CO2, the scent is nothing like the synthetics!

Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata)
Great scent! May help balances oil production in all coat types. Makes coat smell real nice. Can also bring your dog’s mood up and relax at the same time. We use this in our skin and coat balancing canine massage oil.
